For the Left Hand

At age 10, Norman Malone was attacked with a hammer to the head and paralyzed on his right side, rendering his dream of becoming a concert pianist seemingly impossible. He spent over 60 years practicing alone at home, mastering works written solely for the left hand, without ever telling anyone. For The Left Hand offers a portrait of Malone as he takes on Ravel’s Piano Concerto – the greatest and most difficult piece in the entire left-hand repertory.
